Alabama state troopers reported five persons were injured in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Route 65 near bridge construction in Decatur.
Don Webster, chief operating officer of HEMSI, said five who were riding in the SUV were rushed to the hospital.
Medflight and AirEvac helicopters flew three of the injured to Huntsville Hospital and two other injured persons were driven to the hospital by ambulance.
According to WHNT News 19, the vehicles involved were a black 2003 Chevrolet SUV and a gray 2006 Pontiac Vibe. The SUV, carrying five passengers, rolled a number of times. The station reported some passengers were ejected.
One person who was trapped inside the SUV had to be cut out.
The accident occurred about noon on southbound U.S. 65 just south of the I-565 interchange and north of where the bridge reconstruction was taking place.
